SUMMER SEWING CAMP FOR CHILDREN 2016

SUMMER 2016 CHILDREN'S SEWING PROGRAM!!

One of our greatest joys is to teach the younger generation the love of sewing.  We started this program in 2003.  When we became Pfaff dealers in 2004, we enhanced our sewing programs the following year with a new sewing machine.  The joy of sewing can be quickly deflated when the sewing machine the child uses has a problem, and does not sew well.

Remember when you took Home Ec in school and your experiences changed how you looked at sewing today?  Many times a great experience in learning can last a lifetime!

We have learned that Aunt Susie's machine she pulled out of the garage or closet, or bought at a yard sale for a great price, or from the big box store, may not give the child the best sewing experience.  Many times it is not the child's skill that is lacking, but the quality of the machine they are using.

In our Level One Kids Sewing Camp, we want to make their experience the best ever, so that they keep this wonderful experience of learning and continue on in their love of sewing.

They will have a machine that is their own and they learn to care for it.  This teaches the child not only the joy of sewing, but also responsibility and a sense of satisfaction in the projects they made themselves.

Level One Kids Sewing Camp

$475 (first time students)
(includes Pfaff's "Smarter by Pfaff 160 Sewing Machine, and most supplies)

Level One

Session 1
Tuesday July 12 to Friday July 15 10:30 to 2:30 p.m.

This is our eleventh year to offer a Kids Sewing Camp where each student will take home their new Pfaff Sewing machine. This year the machine will  be the Smarter by Pfaff 160.

Each student will learn how to use their machine, including the decorative stitches and cleaning/maintenance. There will be one session, (maybe two if there is enough interest), with a maximum of six students in each session. We provide most of the supplies needed and snacks. Each student will bring their own lunch.

We recommend early sign-up for classes. Class fees must be paid to ensure a spot in the class. Classes are limited to 6 students each. This ensures that each student will have enough attention to make their sewing experience the best!

Level One is structured for kids ages 8 and older.  We will consider a 7 year old, if they are able to follow instructions and sit at a machine for four hours!

Class fee includes all instructions, sewing machine and supplies. For health reasons, children need to bring scissors that are appropriate for their age, one to cut threads and one for paper.

Each student will be responsible for putting their name on everything they bring to class.
Each day will bring a new project and finishing of previous projects, time permitting.  Depending on skill level we may add another project!

Day One:       Basic sewing machine instructions, Chenille Pillow
Day Two:       Notebook or Journal cover
Day Three:    Destroy your jeans!  Purse with decorative accents
Day Four:      TBD

We reserve the right to change projects for the Level One Kids Camp depending on the skill level of our participants.

Make a T-shirt Quilt

Tuesday August 9  to Friday August 12,10:30 to 2:30 pm.

Natalie has requested a camp so she can make a T-shirt Quilt.  This is not a simple quilt and T-shirt fabrics are all stretching and you need to tame them!  Students will learn just that and how to plan and make a T-shirt quilt.  This picture is an example and is larger than what we are making in camp!  Each quilt will look differently.   It's always fun to see the finished one.

We recommend T-shirt quilts to be sent out to a Professional Quilter as they are heavy and not easy to quilt on a home machine.  Cost depends on size.  (minimum is $40)  Kellie McKenzie is our Professional Quilter.
